The new 2023 Dodge Journey exclusive review

The 2023 Dodge Journey is a “what body style?” anomaly. Neither hybrid nor station wagon, it’s a people mover that seats up to seven.

This is the last year that models of MPV with all-wheel-drive or front-drive will be available. These models were co-created in 2005 by Mitsubishi and Daimler, and are called either Fiat Freemont or Dodge JCUV. The Journey may not yet be dead, as FCA allegedly plans to bring it back in 2022 as a 2023 model.

Last year, Mopar Insiders (MI) mentioned the possibility of Alfa Romeo reviving SUVs. In other words, the Giorgio platform might be used to upgrade the Journey to rear-wheel and all-wheel drive. “The power of HEMI” was also brought up, but it’s best not get too excited about this rumor as FCA rarely confirms such speculation.

The primary concern with the Journey redesign was its 50:50 merger with Groupe PSA. It’s been said that Alfa Romeo utilized French parts and pieces for the all-new Tonale crossover, leaving only the Giulia and Stelvio as models based on Giorgio architecture. Although, things don’t get more complicated from this point forward.

Sergio Marchionne and several other officials at Fiat Chrysler have long confirmed or suggested that brands like Dodge would get Giorgio for back/all-wheel-drive applications. Even Maserati is developing a small SUV that will be produced in the same factory as the Alfa Romeo Stelvio.

2022 Dodge Journey Interior

With the capacity to carry five passengers comfortably, as well as one of the largest cargo spaces in its category, this cabin is perfect for those who need a spacious interior. The rear seat can be configured as a 60/40 split or both seats can be reclined so that the floor is flat.

The GS5 features an updated interior with materials that are high quality, soft to the touch, and show a level of detail that surpasses what was seen in the 2020 model. For SXT and Sport models, there is an analog gauge cluster along with a digital information display that measures 7 inches located in the center.

The high-end GT model comes with a 12.3-inch LCD digital cluster in place of the gauge cluster, creating a more modern display that is technologically advanced. This change makes the Dodge vehicle much more appealing to customers and sets it apart from other competing models.
